Hope you are all doing well. I don't have a card to share today, but I can chat about my past weekend, if that's alright.
I flew to NY to attend my 20 yr. HS reunion. I was thinking that I was from a class of 275, but maybe it was around 225. I honestly didn't pay attention to the numbers in school...not any numbers...I am so bad at math. Yes, I still count on my fingers. I'd like to blame it on the school system, but I am sure that I had something to do with it. My son is 2 years ahead in Math...go figure. :)
so, 3 mini flights got me to NY, what was I thinking when I booked that?!? Went to my Dad's house (hugged and squeezed him) took a shower and went to the mixer. A band was playing. Ummmm LOUD! It was supposed to be playing outside, but it was raining, which drove them inside...ugh. So, here we were, trying to catch up on 20 years while screaming, nice. It was great seeing everyone, even worth geting a strained voice in the morning. I think that I recognized them all, except for one girl who I thought was someone esle (she didn't know that, don't tell her, k?) it was a good thing that it was loud at that point. so, we chatted and danced until, well, late.
The next day was our picnic. remember I mentioned the 200 something number in our class...we counted 20 classmates. uh huh, I know. there was more that said they were coming, and pulled a no show. we ate, in true cafeteria formation...in clicks. just weird! I did have a nice time though. We had fun looking through the yearbook and giggled all the way through...oh my that BIG Aqua Net hair! I was tempted to show up with big hair, but I chickened out.
Went out that night, not as much fun as the last.
The next day, I visited with family and walked through the mall with my Dad, My kids and I will be back in NY for 10 days, so I am saving most of my visiting time for then.
I wish I had some odd-ball stories to share, but not this time. I was glad that I went. Not sure if the poor turnout will affect future reunions, but my BFF from school and I aren't afraid to organize it next time. If that's what it takes, right?
I missed you all
*smooches*

Ooh, that sounds fun, and stressful and weird. I think I will skip my reunions. I am way to chicken to go. So glad you decided to chat today. even without a card. Have a blissful day!

I know what you mean. My HS graduating class was around 52 (rural school) and only about 12 classmates showed up for my 20th reunion. I was really glad I went though because most of them I had not seen since we graduated. It made me really reflect on what I had accomplished over the last 20 years.
Glad you had fun!

I went to my 20th reunion last summer- and you know the saying "if the music is too loud, you're too old"? Yep, me too. I had to say something to one of my bff's from hs (that happened to be asb pres. or something & one of the organizers)- that we were all screaming to catch up! (ew, that just reminded me of your ketchup ice cream ff). :)
Glad you had fun!

Yep that sounds pretty much like how my 20th went. There are some fun moments and some awkward ones but all in all it's fun to go back and catch up. Glad you had a good time.

Awwww . . . I'm sorry you had such a poor turnout for your reunion. Our 10 year reunion was like that, so a group of us took over and organized the 20, 25, and 30 - and they were a BLAST!! Yeah, we're old now, but we still had fun, and everyone fell into conversations like we'd just seen each other yesterday. Sooo fun!! Take control - you won't be disappointed. Just remember that if you're the planner, you'll have to take all the "complaints" from those that do nothing but complain. Smile, and then tell them that they should probably get involved in planning the next one!! Shuts em up every time!! LOL Good for you for making the best of it!
