boy did I miss all of you!

I am so happy to be home to squeeze my kids :)

I had a blast at CHA!  I went to the Splitcoaststampers social and a Two Peas social and was able to connect with so many amazing designers there.  Plus so many girls to hang with at our hotel...ahhh, good times :)

The first day was frigid...just c c cold on the show floor.  We went to Doodlebug, Pink Paislee, Queen & Co, Piggy Tales, Daisy Bucket, Basic Grey and a few more.  My favorite products were the glitter alphabets by Doodlebug...the cutest font, in the perfect size in playful colors...just yummm.  The monster collection at Daisy Bucket was too cute for words.

We also visited Webster's Pages, Upsy Daisy, Bo Bunny (U Bug Me collection...captured my heart), Jillibean Soup (SOUPer cute....just had to), Jenni Bowlin, Little Yellow Bicycle, Crate Paper, maya Road, Scor Pal, Fiskars (cool border punches), American Crafts, Bella Blvd (new and super fun stuff), Marvy Uchida (my favorite punches), MAMBI (beautiful flocked papers), Clearsnap (with an OMG new ink called Smooch) and EK Success...they have amazzzzing jewelry making products and Martha will be found in stores everywhere not just big box.  So, I know I saw more, but that is what stood out to me at the moment...ohhhh, and Fancy Pants...drool for the kraft paper.  There were some REALLY cool embossing templates at Sizzix and Quikutz too (so wonderful for Core CS)  It's all good people

As for the going green theme...saw some attempts, not many...lots of trees and nature though.  Still seeing lots of die cut papers in fun shapes

Here is a house that i designed for the Ranger booth.  Cute little Claudine Hellmuth asked me to participate

 

They sent a handful of us a rectangle box along with Claudine's paints and sticky backed canvas and boy was THAT ever FUN!!  I painted the birds and stamped polka dots on them, I used paint with the houndstooth stamp and the pattern on the leaves was painted on as well.  CHF has a brick backgrounder that was perfect for my chimney!  I applied Ranger pearl Paint dabber to the transparency and cut it down to create a smoke look.  I rolled chipboard to form the tree branches and stitched my little heart out with DMC floss.  I mad the roof shingles by folding the sticky canvas back on itself and painted it.

I will need a little time to get back into the swing of things and I will chat some more on Monday.  Until then, I have some blog candy to give away.  I have a fun bag from CHA, some new My Mind's Eye products and 2 February CHF Stamp Of The Month sets (I know, surprise, right?  I didn't think I was having a release in Feb, but things happen and there will be a new set released on Feb. 1st at a special price) all you need to do is comment here and say "hello" (please feel free to say more if you feel like it...like maybe tell me what CHA sneaks you have liked)  You have until midnight on Sunday and I will post my blog candy winners on Monday

what a fun day!

I did a little shopping for CHA (I leave on Friday) and I saw my oldest brother...boy do I miss him.  We were only able to see him for 3 hours, but I will take that any day.

Any ways, so sorry to make this short...still so much to do...plus I finished 2 new stamp sets this morning and I can't wait for you to see them.

Happy Tuesday to you.  It was great having my kids home from school on Fri and Mon...now back to our regularly scheduled programs.  Hope you had a relaxing weekend.

Have you checked out the winter CHA releases yet?  I usually go to Lifetime Moments and drool my little heart out...can I just say...there's a LOT of purple going on.  Now I know that I was saying that I was getting better about accepting purple into my world, but I am scared that there might be WAY too much...ack!!  Must find tinted glasses for the show.

another layout?

I know, can you stand it?  I don't make them too often, but after I get over the stage fright of the size of them, I really enjoy putting them together.  You can click on the image for a closer look (I am wierded out that I can't seem to find the image with the journal strips on it...even more puzzled as to why I took a photo of this page before it was completed...smacks forhead)

  Little Guy stamp set along with a touch of the Pin Dot Scrapblock with some Fancy Pants, My Mind's Eye and I am drawing a total blank as to who makes that fabulous striped paper

*Tip add brads to the wheels*

*Tip 2 cut out the monster body and add on top of a base stamped image...don't forget to cu the eyes*

*Tip 3 Add dimensional foam squares behind the monster so that it looks like he's getting some serious air*

*FF Children are more allergic to cockroaches than they are to cats* (triple ewww)

It's such a crazy time of year with CHA around the corner...just having some extra fun creating over here.  PLUS, The Biggest Loser and American Idol season started...yay!!!  Love those shows, so I have been enjoying them with my kids.

How 'bout a sneaky?

Introducing...WhiteWash...by Core'dinations card stock:

So, a white wash is on one side with a bold color on the back...when you tear or sand it, you will see the color on the tear

 

*Tip place card board behind the card stock and rub with a sand block, revealing a lined/corrugated texture*

*Tip 2 I used a dry emboss template by Fiskars to add polka dots to my paper...I just used a pen tip to rub the paper, on the back side and then sanded the front to reveal the color*

*FF In Mexico, the Tooth Fairy is known as the 'Tooth Mouse'* (yeah, I'll take the fairy, any day of the week, thanks)

I had an eye appt. today...and since my pupils were dialated, it was hard to post until now...but here I am :)

CHF is holding off on the Monday challenges, for now...so I thought I'd share a CHA sneak peek of some American Crafts goodness

 

aren't the colors so FUN!  I used foam squares by Therm O Web in certain areas to add dimension.  Those clouds were cut from trees...super CUTE trees I have to say.

*Tip take a GOOD look at your scrapbooking products...papers especially...you can find all sorts of non-traditional uses for them, so many times...take off those tainted glasses (or in my case those paper ones they gave me at the eye doctors office today....schnazzy stuff)...and really see what you have to work with, you might be surprised*

I added rub-ons to the phone sticker and cut the lips from patterned paper

*Tip draw a black pen line with a ruler, instead of stitching to create a frame*

*FF Ancient Egyptians slept on pillows made of stone* (ummm, that's not a pillow in my book, it's still a rock!)

and I am in mad card making mode.  I made 7 new ones today and finished 2 others (while my kids were at school)...and after this I'm off to my table once again.  Dunno what it is about Fridays that make me want to scrap!

I stamped the flower in black over the October Afternoon paper...doesn't it look like that's how the paper comes?  I think it's one very beautiful image.  This is a non-traditional wedding card...maybe more casual I guess.

It seems like I have traded in my twine for embroidery floss lately...funny how I get onto something and when I am done, I am done...now don't get me wrong, I am still a HUGE twine fan...just time to STEP AWAY!  hmmmm, wonder what my next crush will be.

*Tip sorry if I am repeating this tip...but, use a sewing machine without thread to poke the holes for you when hand stitching*

*Tip 2 I ALWAYS stamp on scrap paper before committing to my project...just sayin'*

*FF A Giraffe has the same number of bones in its neck as a man* (sounds like they are stretching the truth a bit...sorry about that, can't help myself...I get it from my Dad)
