Let's start with...

American Idol tonight...It seems just SO obvious who the top 2 are going to be, ehem...David times 2.  I happen to LOVE Neil Diamond...I grew up listening to his music along with Barbara Streisand.  I have seen The Jazz Singer more than once and we had many records, of both artists.  They sang some beautiful songs that I will always remember...seems like forever ago

Withsympathy

Fancy Pants paper, Hounds Tooth Backgrounder along with feathers from Feather Expressions which some of you won during my Birthday give-a-way/  Stazon ink.  Pretty Birds, Bold Curls and Silhouette Blooms 1 were used...you can see these stamp sets to the left. (if they don't show up, just click on my banner)

*Tip stamp the solid bird image with brown ink first and then press the solid bold curl into the image without ink on it and lift, press the bird onto the paper and this cool effect happens (please don't ask me how, I am clueless)*

*FF In Ohio... No one may be arrested on Sunday or on the Fourth of July* (now that's a scary thought)

Monday's Challenge is...

...chalk

I know, you may be thinking that chalk is so yesterday...I used them forever ago too, but I still have them and I still enjoy them so much.  They are on sale at CHF this week.  I am hoping they make a major come back.  Feel free to participate and upload to the CHF gallery and use the key word "chalk" with your title. I have discovered a new use for them and I hope you give it a try (well, new to me any ways :)

Missingyou

I used a glue pad and stamped the solid oval onto the paper and then rubbed chalk over the image, leaving the most beautiful color.  I repeated this over and over with 3 different chalk colors.  I then designed the card and added chalk to my patterned paper to make it coordinate better.  I will be pulling out my chalks more often.  Pebbles chalk, stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms and paper by Basic Grey.

*Tip apply chalk like you are using a paint dauber...pounce up and down over the sticky, stamped surface*

*FF It is a law in NY that the penalty for jumping off a building is death* (I suppose they are offering to finish the deal if you don't die the first time?)

Did you know that CHF has an online referral program?  Here are the deets:

Have you created with our stamps and uploaded to an online gallery, album or blog in the past month? Did you include stamp credit info with a link to Cornish Heritage Farms? Well then you are eligible to be part of our new CHF Online Referral Program! Each time you upload a creation using stamps by Cornish Heritage Farms and include stamp credits with an active link to www.CornishHeritageFarms.com simply send a link to your creation to onlinereferralprogram@cornishheritagefarms.com to be entered in our monthly drawing for one of three FREE GIFT CERTIFICATES! Please read on for all the specifics.

Emails need to include a direct link to the project you have uploaded in the month pertaining to the drawing. Emails with general links to galleries, albums or blogs will not qualify as our time is limited and we cannot search through pages of entries to see which upload uses CHF images.
Each email must include your name, your address, your phone number and your email address of where to send the gift certificate. We will keep this information in the strictest confidence.

There will be three (3) FREE GIFT CERTIFICATES in the comparative amounts of $25.00, $15.00 and $10.00 given away each month on the 1st business day of the month.

Gift certificates will expire thirty days from date of issue.
Orders totaling less than $35.00 are still subject to S&H fees as outlined on the CHF website. Orders over $35.00 always ship free within the USA.

There is no limit of times you may enter the CHF Online Referral Program in any one month but each entry must be a separate gallery, album or blog upload and must include a live link to www.cornishheritagefarms.com. Should you have any questions about the CHF Online Referral Program please email them to onlinereferralprogram@cornishheritagefarms.com and we will do our best to answer all of your questions in a timely manner.

This card was inspired by my sweet friend Julie.  If you have a chance, maybe you could spend some time at her blog...she is wonderful in every way!

Fishingyou

I used the 2 newest backgrounders by Cornish Heritage Farms called Tiled Scallops  and Dots and Circles.  Links take you to the gallery where you can see more beautiful projects using these new stamps.  Sentiment is from Petootie Sentiments, Robin's Nest dew drops, Core'dinations card stock and Stazon Ink

*Tip I use small Zots to apply Dew Drops*

*FF When a whale wants to change it's line of sight, it must move it's whole body because it's eyeballs are fixed* (odd)

I will be back at 8am tomorrow with another Monday challenge

hope you are enjoying your day :)

TGIF...

phew...another week down..anyone else feel like it drrrraggggged?  Not a bad thing, I got plenty accomplished this week, but for some reason, I am ready for a new week...unusual for me since my weeks seem to run together.

Today, 2 Backgrounders were released at CHF and yesterday, another Elvis stamp made it's debut.  And there is more inspiration than you can imagine at the CHF gallery if you have time to soak it all in this weekend...I plan to.  I do have a card using the new backgrounders but I haven't taken a photo yet...this weekend for sure.

Rqueen

I stamped the polka dot backgrounder onto white glossy paper with archival ink.  The subtle pattern on the card base was made by mistake really.  I was experimenting on a card with Ranger inks and some random color got rubbed into the back of the card and I liked it, so I cut the card in half.  The "Q" is a Cosmo Cricket die cut letter, stamp and grungeboard crown are Tim Holtz.  Topped off with some scrappy bling by MAMBI

*Tip sentiments aren't always necessary...try using letters in the alphabet to represent a stamped image or use as a monogram card*

*FF Oak trees do not have acorns until they are at least 50 years old* (that's nuts!)

*Friday's Publishing Tip : BHG Scrapbooks Etc. is the only publication that sends out a confirmation e-mail when you submit a project (maybe they don't still do this, it's been a long time since I have submitted to them) So, you will need to be patient to re-submit your project to the same or different publication.  You can find out when acceptance e-mails have gone out at the Pub at 2 PeasIt takes from 1 day to a few weeks sometimes*

Have a great weekend :)

April 24, 2008

soooo

I love me some Survivor.  I am always bummed when the Survivor/AI season is over because there's nothing else that I watch really.  It was a great episode and I am having a blast watching this year.

No strange, insulting women at my door tonight, but I did get about 5 phone calls in a row from some hospital that beeped the whole time...ugh!!

how about a layout?

Disneylo

I used Cosmo Cricket and My Mind's Eye patterned papers, title is hand cut and I made the silhouette Mickey head with black punches.  a Dymo label maker was used for the journal and sub title.  A few years ago , we thought it would be fun to go to Disney for Halloween, but it was a challenge to say the least.  It was SO dark...k, I know it was night time, but don't you think it would be nice to put up some extra lights to help navigate through all of those gajillion people?  And if you know me well...you would know that I hate walking in the dark...what was I thinking?  It was a treasured memory though and my kids had a great time.

*Tip flip a font and print the text backwards and cut out a custom title on whatever paper you like*

*FF this came in an e-mail from my Godfather today that I got a kick out of...a ponderism...why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no human being would eat?* (and for that matter, why can cars go amazingly fast when it's illegal to speed?)

April 23, 2008

what?

Carley went home on AI?  Not right I tell you...and that's all I have to say about that,

So, this woman comes to my door right when AI is ready to announce who is going home...and she goes...I am looking for the Mom of the home and when I told her it was me she was acting all animated and shocked...spare me. I thought.  Then she asked me if I have gone green...now I love the Earth and if I have or haven't gone green wasn't going to be discussed with this woman, so I politely told her that it wasn't a good time and that I was sorry...her reply went soemthing like this...well, have fun with your toxic products and God bless...are you kidding me???  It's kinda funny...but it's NOT.  Why did I bother answering my door?  I am sure that she meant well...I wasn't rude, I just don't like talking to strangers...at night to boot.

Thankyouteacher

Bellas sure are cute!  This is rockabella.  I plan on using her with my guitar stamp and maybe the Elvis guitar stamp that I haven't inked yet...I will need to get on that soooon.  Creative Imagination decorative paper along with some Core'dinations card stock, SEI ribbon, MAMBI bling and Stazon ink.  I found the sentiment online and printed it onto the CS.

*Tip it's ok to leave a stamped image alone (at least I think so)...try embellishing with soemthing fun like bling or a button maybe?*

*FF In Alabama...It is legal to drive the wrong way down a one-way street if you have a lantern attached to the front of your automobile* (huh?!?  what do you suppose it can be attached to?)

April 22, 2008

getting a little inky...

Rbutterfly

CHF Spanish Script backgrounder which just rocks!  along with an image from Silhouette Blooms 2.  Tim Holtz grungeboard butterfly, Making Memories velvet brad (delicious) some Bazzill scalloped card stock and drops of Tim Holtz Alchohol inks...this effect is possible on white glossy paper.  I rubbid Clearsnap ink into the grooves of the Grungeboard

*Tip use juicy inks on embossed chipboard or grungeboard*

*Tip 2 Do a search on YouTube for alchohol ink tutorials...this is where I found out how to apply them (I squeezed dots of different colorded alchohol ink into the Ink Blending Tool and pounced up and down until I had full coverage...which was fun btw)*

*FF In Oklahoma...Fish may not be contained in fishbowls while on a public bus* (looks like they have been watching too many cartoons...and what's wrong with people wanting to take their fish out for a walk...oh' right...)

AI Fans like me: Brooke honey...it's time to go...you are so adorable but well...Syesha...girl rocked it!!  The David's...goosebumps happened..does David Cook get better looking with each show?  Jason...well, although he is so stinkin' cute, he does nothing for me.  Carley...so glad she had fun...I really like her.  order as of today, let's see...Brooke, Jason, Carley, Syesha, David C with David A winning...David Cook is my fav. and he is the only one that I will buy a CD of, but I think he will do better on his own.

Just a quick FYI...my May stamp release will be on Friday, May 9th instead of May 1st...the first came so fast, so we decided to push it back...just a little.  I will keep you posted on the other CHF releases too...boy have they been busy!!

thanks for stopping by :)

time for another challenge

Today's Challenge Chick's challenge is a sketch:

April21sketch28229

Here is my interpretation:

Letscelebratebk

first of all, I obviously flipped the sketch and went with hand drawn zig zag stitches.  I used Tyson The Turtle stamp along with a sentiment and party hat from U R A Hoot stamp set.  I used colored pencils to add the color and interest.  A little bit of bling adds just the right touch.  Prism card stock and Prismacolor colored pencils.  The ink is Timber Brown Stazon

Here are some links to the CHF DT's creations:

*Tip cut stamps out for a paper pieced look*

*FF A sneeze travels out your mouth at over 100 m.p.h* (ewwww...who clocked this?)

Happy Monday! :)

April 20, 2008

how cute is this?

We ate dinner at The Outback Steakhouse tonight (I can't remember the last time we ate out).  My daughter reads "grilled cheese on the barbie" and she giggles...I say to her...Barbie is short for bar-b-que and she giggles again...I said "did you have a visual of a grilled cheese being served on a barbie doll?"  she giggled with a yes...I thought that was just SO cute!!

I watched The Big Give finale...what an amazzzzing show.  I loved every minute of it.  They definitely chose the right guy.  I hope this show will live on.

Hello

SEI patterned paper (Dill Weed collection to be exact...which always makes me think of that commercial with that guy calling himself a "dill weed"...very funny!), Core'dinations card stock, Heidi Swapp Brad and an American Crafts rub-on.

*Tip use machine sewing to add interest to accents*

*Tip 2 try adding rub-ons to brads*

*FF Einstein was a dyslexic*

hope to see you tomorrow for another Monday CHF Challenge Chicks Challenge
